How is THC Legal Nationwide?
If I had to sum it up in one sentence?
The U.S. government only banned 1 form of THC, but there are more forms to choose from!
Here’s the full breakdown:
In 2018, the US federal government passed the 2018 farm bill.
This legalized “hemp,” but what tf is the difference between hemp and traditional marijuana?
If you ask a scientist, he will tell you hemp and marijuana come from the same plant, Cannabis.
So, what’s the deal?
Think about it like dog breeds: Some dogs were bred to hunt, and some dogs were bred to herd sheep.
Cannabis is the same way. Some cannabis varieties were simply bred for making rope, baskets, clothing etc. (Hemp)
And of course, other Cannabis varieties were bred to get you high as F**K (Marijuana)
The Cannabis plant (which includes ALL hemp and marijuana varieties) has small amounts of several different of kinds of THC in it:
Delta 8
Delta 9
Delta 10
Etc….
So, here’s the KEY and the whole reason this is legal:
The 2018 farm bill only bans delta 9 THC, so all other forms of THC are fair game!
With this new wording written into federal law, genius hemp farmers got to work, and started to breed new hemp varieties, increasing these other forms of THC!
Because of modern technology, we can speed up this process and we can concentrate these cannabinoids so that we feel the effects similar to that of traditional marijuana.
You may be wondering, are these other cannabinoids as safe as traditional marijuana?
Absolutely.
Cannabinoids like Delta 8 and Delta 10 are naturally found in the cannabis plant, and you actually already smoke it in small doses when enjoying traditional marijuana.
So, to conclude, thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill, weed has essentially been legalized. Only 1 cannabinoid is outlawed, allowing the rest of the cannabis plant to be free!
